teaching
teaching practical skills, fostering curiosity, and building inclusive research communities
I’m driven by a desire to make astronomy and statistics accessible, practical, and empowering. My own career was shaped by an early astro-statistics course that gave me the tools to succeed—and I aim to create similarly transformative experiences for my students. Whether preparing them for research or industry, my goal is to build their confidence with data, teach statistical thinking, and help them see themselves as capable scientists.

I’ve taught and mentored across a range of settings, from co-developing a senior undergraduate research course at UMass to teaching on Scandinavia’s largest graduate statistics course. I currently a co-mentor to four graduate students and have guided over a dozen student researchers since 2018. I also bring a decade of outreach experience, which has sharpened my ability to explain complex ideas clearly and connect with learners at all levels. My experience serving as DEI undergraduate coordinator profoundly influenced my convictions as to the importance of equitable access to education and assessment.
turning students in scientists
My approach emphasizes hands-on, research-led learning using real data and modern tools like Jupyter notebooks. My undergraduate experience has taught me the value of flipped classrooms, project-based work, and inclusive course design that supports varied learning styles. I regularly gather student feedback to adapt instruction, and I work to foster a classroom culture of collaboration, inclusion, and shared ownership. As a mentor, I focus on trust, communication, and visibility so that students feel supported both personally and professionally.
